Conference attendees and gov- erning councilors gathered on
October 22nd to hear reports about
the IREM financial performance and
recent activities and accomplishments of various committees and advisory boards. Among the session’s
The newest international chapter
was approved. IREM welcomes Rio
de Janeiro Chapter No. 120, and in
return the chapter representatives
invited all to join them in Rio for the
2016 Summer Olympics.
It has been very busy year for Legislative and Public Policy Committee with writing and updating statements of policy and tracking legislative activity on issues like the Right
to Rest Act, HOA Assessment Liens,
e-cigarettes, the Uniform Residential
Landlord Tenant Act and Fair Housing Disparate Impact.
The IREM financial fundamentals
are strong—2015 year-end projections are for a net operating income
of $284,000, which is $100,000 better than budget. The 2016 budget, as
passed by the Governing Council,
features a total operating income
of $12,320,000—a growth of three
percent more than 2015 revenues.
The budget features modest, achievable growth targets in membership
counts, course enrollments, product
sales and more.
The IREM Foundation reported
on its activities in 2015, including
the funding of 164 scholarships for
recipients to take IREM courses towards their credentials.
The Ethics Committee held a
mock ethics hearing at this IREM
Fall Leadership Conference which
was very well attended. September
was IREM Ethics Awareness Month
and featured a number of awareness
outreach efforts at the chapter and
national level to continue to raise the
awareness of IREM ethical standards
throughout the industry.
Finally, the 2016 governing councilors and slate of appointments were
approved. IREM 2015 President Lori
Burger, CPM, passed the gavel to
IREM 2016 President Chris Mellen,
This Education and Knowledge
Products Committee works to ensure
rigor and relevance, enhance engagement and expand knowledge within
IREM and the real estate management industry. This year’s accomplishments include five new books,
eight white papers, 54 webinars and
10 credentialing course updates.

A new outreach effort was
launched by the Membership and
Credentialing Committee to strategically grow the CPM membership program and raise the bar on
membership standards. Conference
attendees were encouraged to become CPM Sponsors. During the
conference, more than 100 committeed CPM Sponsors have already
