ACTIONS TAKEN
IREM’S GOVERNING COUNCIL MET ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2011, IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE IREM FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
IN SAN DIEGO, CALIF. MORE THAN 550 COUNCILLORS AND GUESTS
ATTENDED THE MEETING, INCLUDING GLOBAL REPRESENTATIVES
FROM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. HERE ARE HIGHLIGHTS:
More than 550 conference attendees—including more than
200 members of the IREM Governing Council—gathered to
hear reports about IREM’s 2011
financial performance, next
year’s budget outlook, the recent activities and accomplishments of IREM’s various committees and much more. The
Council is the final authority on
decisions affecting Institute bylaws, policy and budget matters.
•;As proposed by the Membership and Credentialing Committee, the Council voted to
modify current CPM requirements by adding a new fast-track option recognizing 20
years of qualifying professional experience as a way
to complete the CPM education requirement, to take effect January 1, 2012.
•;The Council approved a series of recommendations to
bring IREM instructor and
grader practices in alignment
with the current Internal
Revenue Service interpretation of outside contractor status while preserving
the quality and integrity of
IREM’s “gold standard” education.
•;IREM’s 2012 budget should
generate a positive operating profit, a positive bottom
line and monies to allocate
to increase the Institute’s already solid reserve fund.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2012, CURRENT
CPM REQUIREMENTS WILL BE MODIFIED
BY ADDING A NEW FAST-TRACK OPTION.
